Important Message to Milwaukee Jewish Community on Israel and Iran

To Our Milwaukee Jewish Community,

Last night, Israel carried out targeted strikes on sites in Iran. As always, Israel has both the right
and the responsibility to defend itself against foreign threats—particularly existential ones such
as Iran’s pursuit of nuclear capabilities.

Jewish Federations of North America is hosting a briefing today at noon (CT) to provide insights
into the current situation. We encourage you to attend; registration is required. You may also read JFNA’s statement here.

Security and Safety

At this time, there are no known direct threats to Jewish institutions in our region. However, we
know from experience that high-profile geopolitical events—especially those involving Israel—
can lead to local impacts, including increases in antisemitic rhetoric, protest activity, or other
disruptions.

The safety and security of our Jewish community in Milwaukee and across Wisconsin remains
our highest priority. Last night, Ari Friedman, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Jewish
Security Network (a program of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation), proactively connected with
security leaders at Jewish institutions statewide. He also coordinated with our local, state, and
federal law enforcement partners to ensure continued vigilance and communication.
We encourage all members of our community to:

  • Follow security protocols as directed by Jewish institutions you attend.
  • Avoid confrontational posts on social media, especially with individuals you don’t know.
  • Report any concerns to the appropriate authorities or to your local Jewish institution.

We know that messages like this, even when they are reassuring, can bring unease. We share
them not to spark fear—but to remind you that you are not alone. We are united in our
responsibility to each other’s safety, and we are proud of the systems we have built to ensure
our community is protected and prepared.

May this be a Shabbat of peace both here in Milwaukee, in Isreal and around the world.
