Julie Schack spent the better part of 25 years as an advertising and marketing professional reimaging and leading sales teams in New York, Chicago and St. Louis before forming her own advertising agency — After5 Advertising in 2010. During this time she also served as the Director of Sales and Events for the award winning St. Louis Jewish Light, one of the country’s last weekly Jewish news publications. It was during this tenure that she found her calling as she recognized how meaningful and fulfilling it was to be a Jewish communal professional. Soon after, a family move to San Antonio prompted Julie to accept the position as Director of Women’s Philanthropy and Affinities with the San Antonio Jewish Federation where she was instrumental in reinvigorating women’s giving as well as helping to turn around the annual campaign to post a 6% increase after eight years of a declining campaign.
In 2016, Julie returned to her beloved Milwaukee as Executive Director of Hillel Milwaukee. Over the past four years, Julie and her team rebuilt a struggling program from the ground up, reimagining Jewish life for students from the 12 different colleges and universities it serves. In 2018, Hillel Milwaukee was awarded the Innovation in Fundraising award from Hillel International, having reshaped the landscape for philanthropic giving for a community-based Hillel. Julie’s passion for philanthropy which she calls “sales with a soul’ and her commitment to the Jewish peoplehood are the perfect combination for leading the development efforts of the organization as the new Vice President of Philanthropy.
