Joan is a long time Federation and community leader. She is the Immediate Past Board Chair of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation (MJF) and serves on the Board of Trustees of Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) and chairs the J.E.D.I. (Jewish, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion) Committee.
Joan previously served as General Campaign Chair, Women’s Philanthropy Board President and Women’s Philanthropy Campaign Chair for MJF. She was also the recipient of the Ann Agulnick Young Leadership Award.
Joan holds leadership roles in several non-profit and arts & cultural boards in Milwaukee, including the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Milwaukee Film, Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center, as well as the Lubar Family Foundation.
She was honored to co-chair the International Lion of Judah Conference in 2019 and is a proud alum of National Young Leadership Cabinet and National Women’s Philanthropy.
In addition to the local recognition at the 2024 VALOR event, Joan will also be recognized as a recipient of the nationally-known Kipnis-Wilson/Friedland Award at the 2025 International Lion of Judah Conference. This award is given to women who embody the spirit and vision of the Lion of Judah through a commitment to tzedakah and tikkun olam as well as give women encouragement and opportunity to take a leadership role in philanthropy and Jewish community involvement.
Joan is a Nutritionist and Exercise Physiologist and worked in the field of Corporate Wellness prior to devoting her time to family and philanthropy. Joan is an avid runner, biker, mountain climber and skier. She and her husband, John Crouch, have 4 adult children and live in Milwaukee.
